I am a current MLIS student at SJSU, and a Youth Services Associate at a public library. In this position I do awesome things like plan and lead our Teen Book Club, make displays for our YA collection, and help offer fun after-school programs at local middle schools.
Before that, I worked as a Public Services Clerk who moonlighted as a teen services person: I ordered YA books, created displays for the YA section, plan and ran our teen book club and movie/game nights, among other tasks.
Unsurprisingly, then, my professional goal is to become a teen librarian.
I'm originally from California, and also have a M.A. in Political Theory -- specifically Critical Race Theory and Feminist Theory. I like to think this gives me a unique insight into issues of diversity and representation in the library.
Beyond #libraryland, I spend much of my time reading, eating vegan food ("how do you know someone's a vegan? they'll find a way to mention it!"), watching rescue kittens on Youtube, collecting beanie babies (no, really!), and listening to podcasts. I also love to continually re-learn all the French I took in college.
