For this project, I will be examining white privilege in children’s literature. To do this, we’ll be exploring how experts define the term “white privilege,” and how experts seek to address it. Do we add more diversity in our books? What about inclusivity — and how is it different from diversity? To fully understand the problem, we must also look at examples of it; what does white privilege in practice look like in children’s literature? Finally, we’ll look at why all of this even matters, and what we stand to lose if we don’t take this issue seriously.

In addition, this study will include a variety of resources for other librarians curious about addressing this problem.
